Who is Hey Sunshine?
I am a wife, mother of six and student of holistic nutrition. You will find me to be an incredibly motivated person who desires to live a healthier life one bite and one whole meal at a time. I love to write, read, talk to anyone who will engage with me and enjoy beyond belief swimming and doing laps.
Why Hey Sunshine?
Food was not always at the forefront of my
life. One day however it became just that. The journey began
because of sporadic depression, inflammation, feeling lethargic, complete sugar
addiction and compulsive overeating. Food basically controlled me and in a
final moment of desperation a brain cell fired that screamed … something needs
to change and now!
A friend suggested I watch Food Matters and Forks over Knives which led to reading Brain Grain and Wheat Belly and the research continued. I embarked on a healing journey of wanting to feel alive and whole. Though not easy … there were many internal conversations of why this was needed and wanted in my life…There was a getting back to basics and loving myself enough to feed not only my body but my soul. I will say that “I am a new person and for the first time in a very long time I feel alive.” I feel amazing. The depression is absent, the headaches are gone, the cravings are non-existent and the compulsive overeating has disappeared. This discovery has been very rewarding, inspiring and fulfilling. There is a wonderful community of Health Bloggers whose words of wisdom kept me going and inspired me to try new things.
I originally thought I did not have the
willpower and could not sustain this new lifestyle. The surprise came
when I did not need any willpower as my body responded to nutritious food and a
cleansing of toxins. My mind became clear and the quest is no longer a quest
but a way of life which my soul has embraced.
